I am currently in enrolled in high school at the moment and I live in a dominantly conservative area thus most of the people who go to my school are conservative. It seems to me that this election has changed the way the people I know (Some of my best friends) who are conservative think. Before the election, people actually would listen and were accepting of all cultures and religions. They were your average moderate Republican. At the beginning of the election, some people started to change but for the most part, the intelligent conservatives were still who they were before. When it became pretty clear that Trump was going to grasp the Republican nomination, almost all of these people started to change. It started off with many of the boys wearing Trump hats and shirts and eventually developed into something larger and more horrifying. Not only will people wear Trump merchandise, they believe everything he says, support it, defend it, and worst of all... preach it. These people will also go around making extremely racist comments and if someone doesn't like what they say, they claim the entire thing was a joke. Some examples are people will shout things like "Hail Hitler" and use racist slurs to describe people that I will not say on this article. A personal experience that I had happened about two months ago. I am caucasian but I have a darker skin color. A die hard Trump supporter saw the color of my skin and said "Go back across the border". Now this wasn't a joke. I had made some comments to a friend on why I dislike Trump and he was eavesdropping and he got pissed off at me. More recently, I had an assignment to watch the second debate live, and go onto a live chat room my teacher set up and "tweet" about how we feel about our policies. Since there was very little policy discussed in that debate, many of the people in my class got bored and were either making fake accounts called "Hillary For Prison" or just yelling random crap about Hillary that just was not true. Someone made the comment agreeing with Trump that Obama and Hillary are the founders of ISIS. We were also allowed to fact check on this chat room. If you wanted, you could fact check a student. I replied to this by saying that is impossible because ISIS was founded in 1999 and they were not in office yet. They responded saying I am a member of ISIS and that I need to be watched by the government. It is just little interactions like these that I have that make me realize that Trump is messing with kids. He is destroying their ability to think and their ability to be rational human beings. I am sure that my school is not the only one having problems now because of this election. I hope this can help some of you readers see that there is damage being done by Trump and his campaign and that it will probably get even worse if we elect him.
Thanks again everyone for taking the time to read my thoughts and experiences. I hope you enjoyed what I had to say and that you will be back soon to read my new posts and articles. Have an amazing day!
